Israel and the Jewish People: Our Future
A Special Guest Lecture by Professor Irving Kalet
Presented by the CSAIR Men’s Organization
We had a great time on Thursday Night February 18th when we were treated to a special guest lecture by Irving Kalet on the topic of Israel today and in the future. Professor Kalet had a fascinating perspective on Israeli and American Jewish life based on his unique personal experience. For the past 7 years, every Spring semester Irving teaches at Columbia University – and for the rest of the year he teaches in Israel at Tel Hai College and the Jerusalem College.
Born right here in the Bronx, Irving made Aliya in Israel in 1970 and has lived there ever since. He is the brother of our fellow shul member: Morty Kalet.
Irving described the talk as “ one person’s view of our future – the future of Israel and the Jewish People everywhere” Professor Kalet will discuss a little bit of history, starting 2000 years ago, and then will share his thoughts on Israel today. The question and answer session at the end was still going strong a half hour later.
Our thanks to the B'nai Brith for providing delicious food for everyone and to Professor Kalet.
